Farina!  The Healthier version of Cream of Wheat

Have you ever had Farina? What about Cream of Wheat--do like it???
Cream of Wheat has long been a favorite of mine since I was little! However now that I am more health conscious I refuse to eat processed grains that are not actually a whole grain. There is a reason Cream of Wheat is so white and creamy……it is missing the bran!

In the 21 day cleanse available in the store (called the Ultimate Reset) one of the breakfasts is Farina. Farina is like the healthier version of cream of wheat….I have to say I really like it!  All of a sudden my childhood memories of eating cream of wheat came back to me! Love that stuff :) 

I buy the 25lb bag from Azure and it lasts a while and nice to have it on hand.  As you can see from the pic below it is brown and definitely whole grain! Some people buy Farina but it's white--just know white is not right!  It means it is processed.  So check your sources and read ingredients.  (Azure also sells food grade containers and screw top lids sold separately that fit them if you like to buy bulk). 

It’s nuttier than normal cream of wheat but still totally delicious. Here’s the recipe: Farina

Why do so many people say grains are bad for you and then the other half say they're good?

Grains are both. They are a cheap resource for energy. Unfortunately, too many grains strains your body systems - in many people that results in diabetes, gastroenteritis and a variety of other health problems. The current recommended number of grains is simply too high for most people. Cut the grains and have more vegetables.

I just read another article that observed that farina, while higher in healthy fiber, is also much higher in calories and cholesterol.

Oh, it also pointed out Farina has 46% carbs vs 13% COW.
