Green Smoothie!

Picture
What is your "go-to" meal?  This is my simple breakfast that I wake up and throw together for the kids.  It is jam packed with nutrition and fills them up as well as fuels their body and keeps them healthy.  I have an 8 cup blender and this recipe nearly fills it and gives 4 kids around 16 oz each.
  • 1 lb frozen strawberries
  • 1-2 c frozen mangoes (Trader Joes is great for both frozen strawberries and mangoes)
  • 1 big handful of spinach or GREENS of your choice (spinach is mild--promise you can't even taste it!)
  • 1-2 bananas (makes it creamy!)
  • 3 cups ice
In the beginning you might add a bit of raw honey (ideally from a local beekeeper, big plus is it helps with allergies!) but my kids are used to the sweetness of the fruits on their own and tell me honey makes it too sweet. Variations of this recipe are endless!  We've tried these variations and liked them: 1/4 c coconut (unsweetened), OR 2 tbsp cocoa powder, OR 1/4c frozen cranberries, OR 1/4 c nuts or seeds for creamier and adds protein/healthy fat into the diet (my favorite in this smoothie is walnuts), OR Udo's DHA oil (sold in the refrigerator in the vitamin section of health food store--adds healthy fats), OR 1/2 avocado (makes it creamier + healthy fat--promise you can't taste it!)

Chocolate SHAKE!

Shakeology is a premium shake.  Nutrition simplified--the healthiest meal of the day.  Visit my Shakeology Website for more info and to purchase.
When I shop for products for me and my family to eat I scrutinize every ingredient label and this product has passed the test above and beyond.  My favorite flavor is Vegan Chocolate (but all the flavors are very tasty).  One serving is like eating FIVE salads but it tastes like a dessert.
It also saves a money because I am no longer buying ANY supplements or vitamins--it's all in here but the difference is all the nutrients come from WHOLE foods instead of synthetic chemicals so your body will actually absorb the nutrients!  I also no longer have to plan or budget for breakfasts for myself--I drink this every day.  My husband and I LOVE this drink and sometimes have it for dessert too!

I prepare mine this way for Vegan Chocolate:
  • 1 scoop Vegan Chocolate Shakeology
  • 12 oz water or almond milk
  • 5 strawberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 handfuls of ice

OR
for Chocolate Whey Shakeology--Choco Peanut Butter!:
  • 1 Scoop Chocolate Whey Shakeology
  • 12 oz milk
  • 1 tbsp Just Great Stuff (this is powdered peanut butter with hardly any calories or fat!)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 handfuls of ice

And that's it!  Throw it all in the blender and whir it around!  There are tons of great recipes for Shakeology but I guess I'm a bit of a creature of habit but I never get sick of it so that's why I haven't changed :)  And it's nice when you have the calories memorized--you don't have to figure out something new!
