The top 5 poisons we eat
What is classified as a poison? In 1957, Dr. William Coda tried to answer this question: When is a food a food and when is food a poison? His working definition of "poison" is the best I've heard and I apply it to everything I eat:His working defini2on of
"Any substance applied to the body, ingested or developed within the body, which causes or may cause disease."
The dictionary gives an even broader definition for poison, "to exert a harmful influence on, or to pervert." You'll see the following 5 foods fit both definitions...
"Any substance applied to the body, ingested or developed within the body, which causes or may cause disease."
The dictionary gives an even broader definition for poison, "to exert a harmful influence on, or to pervert." You'll see the following 5 foods fit both definitions...
#1 Sugar
- Refined sugar is lethal when ingested by humans because it provides "empty" calories. Natural sugars that occur in fruits and honey, maple syrup, etc have the necessary minerals required to utilize and digest the sugars. Processed refined sugar lacks the natural minerals which are present in the sugar beet or cane.
- Sugar leaches the body of precious vitamins and minerals through the demand it makes while digesting and being detoxified and eliminated. It is notorious for requiring the body to leach calcium from bones.
- It is also highly acidic (our bodies are designed to be alkaline) so minerals such as sodium (from salt), potassium and magnesium (from vegetables), and calcium (from the bones) are mobilized and used in chemical transmutation. Neutral acids are produced in an attempt to return the acid-alkaline balance of the blood back to a normal state. This causes great stress on the system.
- One of sugar's major drawbacks is that it raises the insulin level, which inhibits the release of growth hormones, which in turn depresses the immune system.
- Sugar is one of cancer's favorite foods. Cancer grows bigger when you eat it.
- Sugar is in EVERYTHING. People think since they don't eat that much ice cream or candy don't eat that much sugar but what they don't realize is it is used as a preservative and flavor enhancer for cheap processed foods. So check a can of beans, can of corn, ketchup, salsa, cereal (any variety), peanut butter, Chick fil A Chicken....it's commonly used in all that and more! Things you would never classify as "sweets".
- Sugar consumed daily (which is easy to do without even realizing it), produces a continuously over acid condition, and more and more minerals are required from deep in the body to attempt to rectify the imbalance. Finally, so much calcium is taken from the bones that tooth decay begins.
- Simple refined sugars contribute to: asthma, mood swings, personality changes, mental illness, nervous disorders, diabetes, heart disease, gallstones, arthritis, cancer, and more.
#2 White Flour
- White flour (and this goes for white rice, "pearled" barley, some varieties of oatmeal that remove the bran, etc) is a processed food lacking in nutrients.
- When you remove the wheat seed’s bran – (that's the six outer layers) you lose 76% of vitamins and minerals and 97% of dietary fiber.
- And then there's the nasty additives....white flour is often bleached, preserved, and aged with Chlorine Dioxide.
- It's further whitened by adding chalk.
- Alum and ammonium carbonate improves the look and feel for buyers.
- Emulsifiers are added to make the bread appear softer and hides the real age of the bread. Bread OUGHT to go moldy in about a week. The white bread is actually still rotting (the emulsifiers don't prevent that) they just hide the SIGNS so you you can't tell that the bread you are eating is actually rotten.
- Alloxen is added to make it look "clean" to the consumer. This toxic substance destroys beta cells that are located in the pancreas. It's often given to lab rats to induce diabetes.
- Sorbian mono-saturate, an anti-salting agent is added in the last steps.
- Potassium bromate is also added, it is very powerful oxidizer that damages cells. (Bromate is considered a category 2B carcinogen (possibly carcinogenic to humans) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Potassium bromate has been banned in most of developed countries in 1994 including all countries in European Union (chlorine, bromates, and peroxides in food is banned in the EU), UK, Canada
- And then a few synthetic minerals are added back in and the bread is called "enriched." If you see "Enriched White Flour" on the ingredients anywhere, put that bread back--it's bad stuff!
- In contrast, WHOLE GRAINS, retain their bran and germ and consequently all their nutrients.
- Vitamin E is retained and acts as a natural preservative.
- BUT don't be deceived! Some products say "whole grain" but they really aren't.
- They may have some whole grains but then don't the ingredient list you'll see unhealthy ingredients (like sugar, very common, used to make the yeast rise) or 'enriched wheat flour". If you see those ingredients put the bread back.
- A good indicator if bread is truly whole grain is it should be brown (from the bran) and a little heavy and grainy (sometimes a little spongy).
- Ezekiel bread is a nationwide brand that is a good one to eat and is available in many stores nationwide. Or you can make your own bread, it is simple to do!
#3 excess Salt
- The most important function of salt is to balance the amount of water that exists within and outside our cells.
- The body requires about 500 milligrams of sodium. Many people consume much more sodium than their body needs (on average 3500 mg/day).
- This is a dangerously high amount of sodium. 80% of which comes from processed and restaurant foods.
- High sodium intake has been linked with serious conditions. It increases your risk for: congestive heart failure (inadequate pumping action of the heart), kidney disease, arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), stroke.
- It's also been linked to osteoporosis (high sodium intake may increase the excretion of calcium which over time reduces calcium in the bones, leading to a deficiency that results in osteoporosis).
- A high-sodium diet could trigger an ulcer or even increase the risk of cancer. In a lab study reported at the May 2007 meeting of the American Society for Microbiology in Toronto, researchers found that salt increased the virulence of the Helicobacter pylori bacterium. This bacterium causes the vast majority of ulcers and greatly increases a person's risk of gastric cancer and a certain form of lymphoma.

#4 Caffeine
- Caffeine is a drug. It is a central nervous system stimulant.
- The adrenal glands pump out stress hormones that stay elevated for up to 18 hours after consumption.
- The reason is it so effective at keeping you awake is because it is a poison and your body is trying so hard to get it out of your system.
- Other negative side effects are:
- The liver releases higher amounts of sugar and fat into the blood stream.
- The pancreas produces insulin to remove the excess blood sugar and store it as fat.
- The insulin spikes create a blood sugar roller coaster.
- Muscle tension is increased.
- The blood vessels constrict, reducing the flow of oxygen to important areas like your brain (up to 30%) and your extremities.
- Digestion and the immune system are impaired or suppressed.
- The production of DHEA and other anti-aging hormones is decreased.
- Cortisol and other stress hormones are elevated.
- Coffee is highly acidic, and like sugar, our body is trying to bring the blood back to a state of alkalinity and in doing so leaches minerals out of the body like Calcium and Magnesium. Daily drinking can contribute to a state of acidosis.
- Coffee is not a health food. Period. While their have been some proposed benefits of coffee (as it does come from a plant and has a certain amount of nutrients) the bad effects far outweigh any good that might be present.
- To sum it up, caffeine is an addictive drug. There is no food that is good for you that will give you "detoxification" headaches if you eliminate it from your diet like caffeine does. Carrots don't do that. Neither does broccoli or celery. Coffee should be eliminated from the diet if true health is what you are seeking. Replace with herbal teas or a delicious breakfast shake like Shakeology. Create new morning habits and rituals.
#5 excess animal products
- Nearly all animal products are very acidic (the exception is raw goat's milk and raw cheese, although they are very high in fat). Animal proteins raise the acid level in the human blood, causing calcium to be excreted from the bones to restore the blood's natural pH balance.
- This calcium depletion leads to osteoporosis, and the excreted calcium ends up in the kidneys, where it can form kidney stones.
- The strain of processing all the excess animal protein from meat can also trigger kidney disease in excessive meat-eaters
- A recent study showed that after following almost 200,000 Americans for seven years, those who regularly consumed red meat had a double the occurrence of pancreatic cancer. (Nothlings U Wilkins, LR, Murphy, SP Hankins JH et al. Meat and fat intake as risk factors for pancreatic cancer the multiethnic short study J Natl Cancer Inst. 2005 97:1458-65.)
- The consumption of animal protein has also been linked to cancer of the colon, breast, prostate, and pancreas.
- According to the USDA, meat is the cause of 70 percent of food borne illnesses in the United States because it's often contaminated with dangerous bacteria like E. coli, listeria, and campylobacter. Every year in the United States alone, food poisoning sickens over 75 million people and kills more than 5,000. This is why if you do eat meat, it should be in the smallest of amounts (not the main dish), not frequent (save it for feasting holiday times) and of the highest organic grass fed quality. Just a few weeks of eating 100% grass will wipe out all E. coli. Animals must be grass fed for health.
- Humans were designed by God in the Garden of Eden to be herbivores. It was only after the flood that God told Noah to eat meat. Consequently we process meat differently than true carnivores. They can process all the saturated fat, protein, and bacteria in animal flesh properly. Studies have shown that even when fed 200x the amount of animal fat and cholesterol that the average human consumes each day, carnivores do not develop the hardening of the arteries that leads to heart disease and strokes in humans.
- The consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy products has also been strongly linked to osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, asthma, and male impotence.
- Science has also found that vegetarians have stronger immune systems than meat eaters. Less susceptible to every day illnesses like the flu.
- Vegetarians and vegans live longer, on average 6-10 years.
- If you must eat animal products, never more than once per week and never as a main dish. Make a raw salad or raw vegetables the main course to aid in digestion and detoxification. And under no circumstances ever eat animal products while you are trying to heal a pain, illness, or disease.
